Best Quality Daughter
Best Quality Daughter is the joint effort of Jennifer Hwa Dobbertin, co-owner, Tenko Ramen; and Jennifer Ling Datchuk, ceramic artist. Datchuk and Dobbertin originally connected over their shared cultural identity as Asian women in Texas. They commiserated about the lack of “Asian comfort food,” the food they remember eating growing up, in San Antonio. Last year, during the “Year of the Bitch” as they deemed it, they decided to create a female empowered collective that would allow them to celebrate their heritage as well as raise money and awareness around women’s issues.
2019 is the Year of the Pig – the Earth Pig, specifically. According to chinesenewyear.net, “These Pigs are social butterflies who find success on both work and their personal lives, although they aren’t terribly romantic. Though not wasteful spenders, they will let themselves enjoy life. They love entertainment and will occasionally treat themselves. They are a bit materialistic, but this is motivation for them to work hard. Being able to hold solid objects in their hands gives them security.” Come celebrate this big pig year with us!
